We understand that proper education on what to or what not to expect during the process of delivery is vital to all expectant mothers. From years of experience in the care of the child, we have observed that some women deliver their babies at home or in some place other than the hospital. These deliveries are oftentimes handled by inexperienced birth attendants who do not have the requisite skills to handle safe delivery. As a result, complications do arise after the delivery or during the process of delivery and in some cases results in infant mortality. To avoid all these risks, we give proper education and sensitization on a number of common pre-natal and post-natal conditions and complications. Health talks are given on the following conditions: Neonatal Jaundice, Neonatal Anemia, Neonatal Sepsis and Perinatal Asphyxia, Neonatal Rash, Neonatal Cradle Cap. Mothers are also advised to ensure proper hygiene in the care of their babies.
They are also taught on how to exclusively breastfeed their babies and complete childhood Immunization.
Babies are thoroughly examined and assessed to rule out any congenital abnormality that was probably not noticeable at birth. Growth is also monitored while mothers are taught on infant feeding and assessment of neurological function (For example, appropriate age for social smile, neck control, sitting without support, crawling, standing without support).
